A review of electrically conductive poly(ether ether ketone) materials

Poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) is a high-performance thermoplastic with distinctive combination of corrosion resistance, thermo-oxidative stability and outstanding physical mechanical properties at high temperatures. A pertinent step forward in the development this has been inclusion electrically conductive fillers to expand its functionality. In review an overview research on PEEK composites provided. Conductive filler type, fabrication methods, characterization details different are described. Carbon nanotubes, graphene nanoplatelets other organic inorganic such as expanded graphite nickel have incorporated into by techniques extrusion, injection moulding cold hot compression some cases pre-processing steps including mechanochemical modifications solvents. The influences loading compatibilization processing conditions electrical conductivity analysed compared. able enhance either semiconducting or regions. containing carbon nanotubes compatibilized polysulfones poly(ether imide) achieved values region lowest percolation threshold 0.1 wt%.
